Dentures and Partials
Dentures
A conventional set of dentures are made when there are no teeth present or the gum tissue has healed for about eight to twelve weeks after the teeth were extracted. The process can take 4-6 weeks from start to finish, with weekly visits to the dental office.
An immediate set of dentures will be made when the remaining teeth are scheduled to be extracted. The denture will be made prior to the extraction appointment and immediately placed once the teeth are removed. This option is used when the patient chooses to not be without teeth during the healing time. The bones and gum will shrink overtime causing the denture to be adjusted frequently to fit properly.
Partial Denture
A partial denture will be made when a patient is missing several teeth and the remaining teeth are still healthy. The partial can take 4-6 weeks to make and weekly visits to the dental office.
Both dentures and partials are removeable and should be cleaned on a regular basis to help maintian good oral hygiene.
